  Convention Season-"Saving Good Seats" & Other Embarrassing Behavior

  since it is the convention season (and i am not attending this year or ever again), and i have been seeing other posts about some of the goings on at the various ic's and rc's, i am reminded of some of the truly embarrassing behavior i have "witnessed" (pun intended) over my lifetime of being a jdub at the various conventions and assemblies.

  probably the most disillusioning experience at a convention that i have ever had was one year when i volunteered to be an attendant.

  all of the volunteers were asked to attend a special meeting a few months beforehand to get instructions for our duties as attendants.

  My dad's assistant PO was apalled when it became policy for the attendants to remove items used to save seats. He actually taped down his Bible at one assembly so that it couldn't be moved.

  Eight questions about Nathan Knorr

  i have some questions about nathan knorr, the third president (1942-1977) of the wtbts.

  accurate answers are welcome.. 1) how did it come about that knorr was made president of the wtbts in 1942 after the death of joseph rutherford?

  rutherford as we know was an usurper inheritor of russell's wtbts in late 1916 after russell went to his reward.

  example - a girl who may not look like a skinny stick model at the beach in a bikini and rocking it.

  Beards......the CO allowed this one!

  a minny man in a local congregation has a beard...he was bullied by the elders to remove it.. then the co came along and told the elders to allow him to keep his beard.

  (not as the result of any skin condition or anything).. i kid you not!!!.

  what do you make of that?.

  the annual meeting of the governing body of jehovah's witnesses will be in october 2014.. .. in november 2013, just after the last one they published this now famous statement in the 15th of november 2013 watchtower page 16 paragraph 17 says:.

  "at that time, the lifesaving direction that we receive from jehovahs organization may not appear practical from a human standpoint.

  all of us must be ready to obey any instructions we may receive, whether these appear sound from a strategic or human standpoint or not.".

  Excellent. This is real progress. Back in Pauls day it was socially unacceptable for women to teach. Now there are more female teachers than men in our schools, so it's perfectly logical that women should be able to hold posistions within an organised church.

  jws look down on others for saying, "bless you" if someone sneezes.

  it has something to do with the demons.

  another example is that it is considered satanic if a man took his hat off for a lady!

  American English Standards Manual, 9/98 ¡leaked!

  "the rules and principles of the standards manual are applied to english text so that the english publications of the watch tower society have a consistent style.. the standards manual does not set standards for languages other than english.

  each language has its own principles and characteristics to which to conform.

  see branch organization for the function of the english manual with respect to other languages.. legitimate exceptions to principles of the standards manual may be appropriate for somefeature of text that has specialized content or purpose.

  Yeah - organized is organised, specialized is specialised! But the USA is correct in it's spelling of "color". It was only in the 18th Century that we turned it to "colour" as part of a French fashion fad.

  Freaking delusional mariage mates..

  ok so our dc was last week and we live about an hour and a half away from the meeting site.

  so earlier in the year i heard my wife mention something about staying near by in a hotel.

  now i'm thinking what the hell in a major city with several people shes going to have to get 2 rooms and the cost is going to be crazy high.

  Ah - I remember the good old days when witnesses would canvass the neighbourhood residents for B & B rooms. A lot of folk found the extra money useful. We would knock on the door, say we had an assembly coming up and would they like some extra money to put up a couple of clean-living witnesses? I stayed in a few places like that when the Twickenham assemblies came around.
